David Weedmark - Power of Words

by Lori Flood

I have a great passion for words. Poetry, prose, song lyrics; be the spoken, sung to a melody or written. Words have the quiet strength to put people at peace, or to move them to action. There is nothing quite as powerful as the right words at the right time. We've all experienced moments where this is inarguable.

Every now and then, I encounter a writer whose words have the power to move me; to touch me, and to leave their imprint on me in ways that are difficult to describe. When a writer is able to accomplish this, he or she opens up a dialogue with the reader, a connection that brings a deeper level of understanding to both.

David Weedmark is such a writer.

I have long followed and been a fan of David's blog. His content is original and informative. I have found invaluable tips as well as many posts that have inspired me not only to read further, but to continue to write. David's first collection of poetry, First Stirrings, was nominated for the Governor General of Canada’s Literary Award.

He takes his readers on his spiritual journey with him in his book, The Nature of Trees. This book is a life altering read, and David has a workshop forthcoming - designed for both business and personal development - entitled The Art of Daily Living that promises to be a wonderful companion to this important work.

David's recently released mystery novel, The Tanglewood Murders, born of his experiences working with migrant farm workers in southwestern Ontario, is a compelling work of fiction. Not only a crime novel, The Tanglewood Murders also explores the depth of emotion involved with loss, grief, and love in the midst of a perfectly executed thriller.

Those are just a few facts about David Weedmark’s work.

Through reading his work and engaging in his blog (and in the conversations that he opens up with his fans and readers), I have also been very fortunate to come to know David as a friend.
He is an extraordinary man.

David's willingness to share the richly woven tapestry of his life invites his readers to feel like they are sharing in his work in a way that few writers can.

The understanding, empathy and compassion apparent in his writing shines still brighter when you engage with David, himself. David's unassuming and humble demeanour make you feel at home while you share his world, and it's a feeling that you just can't forget.

If more writers - if more people - showed the kind of integrity that David does in both his work and his life, the world would be an easier place for all of us to work our way through.

I believe in the power of words. But I wouldn't get on my little soapbox for just any writer.

David Weedmark is not just any writer. His talent is undeniable.Plain and simple. From his blog, to his poetry, to his novels, there is something here for everyone. David can make you think, make you smile, make you cry; he can entertain you, and he can enlighten you.

It's difficult for a writer - even a talented and published one - to gain the kind of exposure that is required to get their work read by the masses. I believe that David's work needs to be read by the masses. So I have done the one thing that I know how to do, to help that happen.

I have used my words to tell you about his.

Visit David's blog. Read his work. Let his poetry speak to you. Give yourself the gift of his published books.

And then, like me, if you feel moved to do so...

Share it with the people in your world, just as I have shared it with the people in mine.

Information on David Weedmark's published work, including purchasing information, can be found on his website.

Great post by my friend Lori Flood sharing information on her love of the "written word" and those that have a mastery over it such as her friend David Weedmark.

Thanks so much for the posting Lori - I agree that sometimes you need to pull out all the stops to share the incredible tapestry of images that people like David seem to conjure up with a few choice sentences.

All the best to you David. Cheers, Andy
